AMMC Bone Health Program
Supporting Strong Bones & Long-Term Mobility
Osteoporosis is often referred to as a “silent disease” because bone loss can occur without symptoms until a fracture happens. Arkansas Methodist Medical Center’s Bone Health Program focuses on prevention, early detection, and individualized care for patients with osteopenia or osteoporosis. Our goal is to help patients protect bone strength, reduce fracture risk, and maintain mobility as they age.
Who May Benefit From the Bone Health Program
This program may be appropriate for individuals who:
Are age 50 or older and concerned about bone health
Have been diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis
Have a family history of osteoporosis or fragility fractures
Have been advised by a provider to monitor bone density
Comprehensive Bone Health Care
The Bone Health Program is led by orthopedic specialists and provides a coordinated approach to evaluation and ongoing care.
Services include:
Diagnostic Evaluation: Review of medical history and diagnostic testing, including DXA (bone density) scans and lab work
Individualized Care Planning: Personalized treatment plans based on test results, which may include medication management, education, and referrals as appropriate
Ongoing Monitoring: Follow-up visits with an Advanced Practice Provider to track progress and adjust care as needed
Take a Proactive Approach to Bone Health
Early evaluation and ongoing monitoring are key to reducing fracture risk and maintaining independence. Our team assists with referrals and prior authorizations, and most insurance plans cover recommended testing and treatment.
