ARKANSAS METHODIST MEDICAL CENTER JOINS STATEWIDE INITIATIVE TO IMPROVE MATERNAL AND INFANT HEALTH

Arkansas Methodist Medical Center (AMMC) is proud to announce its participation in the Arkansas Perinatal Quality Collaborative (ARPQC), a statewide initiative dedicated to reducing maternal and infant complications and mortality in Arkansas. According to data from the CDC, Arkansas ranks among the states with the poorest maternal health outcomes in the nation, spotlighting the urgent need for action.

Established in July 2023, the ARPQC collaborates with all birthing hospitals across Arkansas to improve health outcomes for mothers and infants. The initiative focuses on identifying healthcare processes that need improvement and quickly implementing effective, evidence-based strategies. Coordinated by the Arkansas Department of Health and the UAMS High-Risk Pregnancy Program, the ARPQC is supported by the Perinatal Outcomes Workgroup Through Education Research (POWER) team, which provides quality improvement coaching to participating hospitals.

The ARPQC’s initiatives focus on critical areas, including reducing cesarean births among low-risk pregnancies, managing complications related to hypertension and hemorrhage, and addressing the needs of maternity patients across Arkansas.

At AMMC, maternal health is a top priority. Our labor and delivery unit is dedicated to providing exceptional care for mothers and their babies. Through our partnership with the ARPQC, we are committed to improving health outcomes for families in our community and state.
